On the afternoon of September 8th, 2019, the opening ceremony of the Department of Materials for students of Grade 2019 was solemnly held in the lecture hall 117 of Shaw Science and Technology Museum. Han Gaorong, President of the Department of Materials, Liu Yanhui, Secretary of the Party Committee, Ye Zhizhen, director of the academic committee, Chen Lixin, vice president, Zhang Shiliang, deputy secretary of the Party Committee and other party and government leaders of the school, directors of various research institutes, representative teachers, moral education teachers and teachers of relevant functional departments gathered together to welcome all the freshmen of Grade 2019.
At the beginning of the ceremony, President Han Gaorong welcomed the students of Grade 2019 to enter the graduate stage and made a special report.
After that, Professor Ye Zhizhen, director of the Academy academic committee, made a report on issues related to academic norms. Mr. Ye introduced some problems in academic research from the aspects of school running concept and academic attitude, and clarified what innovation is. Finally, he put forward some suggestions for scientific research.
Then Liu Yanhui, Secretary of the Party Committee, made a report on safety education for freshmen. From the three aspects of “National Security”, “Public Security” and “Laboratory Security”, this paper shows all kinds of potential safety hazards, and educates everyone to improve their safety awareness.
Finally, Zhu Hang, Secretary of the Youth League Committee, reported the arrangement and process of freshmen’s starting education, briefly explained the relevant matters of freshmen’s entrance education, and made detailed arrangements for freshmen’s starting education.
At this point, the opening ceremony of 2019 graduate students in Department of Materials Science and Engineering officially ended.
