On the afternoon of January 15th, 2021, the Academic Salon sponsored by the trade union of Department of Materials was held in Yuanwang Pavilion, Cao Guangbiao High-tech Building. Researcher Wee-Liat Ong of the Joint College of Urbana Champaign campus of University of Illinois of Zhejiang University was invited to give a report on “Heat Transfer in Superstructure Hybrid Materials”.
This forum was presided over by Researcher Fan Xiulin of our hospital. Before the report, Researcher Fan gave a brief introduction to Researcher Wee-Liat Ong and his work. In the report, researcher Wee-Liat Ong first introduced to us an advanced method in the study of heat conduction - frequency domain thermal reflection (FDTR) technology. Professor Wee-Liat Ong introduced the application of this method in the study of heat transfer in nanocrystalline arrays.
Then, Researcher Wee-Liat Ong introduced some recent achievements of our research group in the study of heat transfer in hyperatomic crystals and hybrid perovskite materials, predicted the inaccessible nanoscale phenomena by modeling, and designed and tested a series of advanced materials according to the calculation results.
After the end of the report, the teachers and students on the scene actively asked researcher Wee-Liat Ong questions. Researcher Ong also shared his understanding of FDTR and corresponding ideas on application in other directions.
